Anne Wakabayashi

she/her/hers

Anne Wakabayashi is an ad maker and media strategist who has worked on races across the country and up and down the ballot. She is one of the only female AAPI admakers in the country. Anne has made ads for countless candidates, including Senator John Fetterman’s impressive win in 2022, but she is most proud of her scrappy underdogs and come-from-behind wins. Whether it’s diving into the nuance of a media plan in order to stretch a candidate’s dollars just a little bit further or helping a candidate tell their story, Anne thrives on the races that require that extra fight.

Anne’s campaign experience ranges from city council up to Senior Strategist for Senator Warren’s 2020 Presidential race. She also served as the founding Executive Director for Emerge Pennsylvania, an organization that recruits and trains women to run for office, and later served as the Emerge National Political Director.

While born and raised in sunny San Diego, CA, she’s now spent the majority of her life bouncing around Pennsylvania—from rural Central PA, to Philadelphia’s Eraserhood, to finally settling in Bethlehem, PA with her wife and two teenage stepsons. She volunteers her time on the Alumni Council for her alma mater, Juniata College, as well as the NQAPIA board, was appointed by Governor Tom Wolf to serve as Chair of the PA LGBQ Commission from 2018-2022, and regularly attempts to develop film in her kitchen.

INSPIRATION

My ancestors, the ones who threw bricks at Stonewall and the ones incarcerated at Tule Lake. The trailblazers who carved a path for me and those whose time has yet to come. The “angelic troublemakers,” whether history remembers them or not.
